Clutch kit for Pontiac vehicle is an assembly of clutch gears that is needed
to replace the old and worn out clutch system of its transmission system. Pontiac
clutch kit comes with a clutch disc, pressure plate, and some bearings such as
throw out bearing and the pilot bearing. The clutch disc is the metal disc that
is covered with a friction material which is somewhat similar to the material
used in brake pads. The layer is usually made of a woven or molded non organic
material and some soft fiber of metal such as aluminum and brass. This lining
is used to improve the grip between the flywheel and the disc.

assembly of clutch plate, spring, cover, and release fingers that are enclosed

The throw out bearing or sometimes called as the release bearing is located in

is to apply force to the spinning pressure plate, in order for it to release the
clutch. The pilot bearing on the other hand provides a low friction support for
the end of the transmission input shaft.
