Pontiac Washer Pump
Washer pump is used on the windshield wiper system to provide the needed water
that is pumped and squirted around the windshield. This is an electronic device
that is turned on using a single push of a button that is found on the driver’s
panel. Typically, the Pontiac washer pump is located at the base of the windshield
washer fluid reservoir. This motor is usually made to be universal, however, the
innovation of the Pontiac engineers made the development of their motor reliably
efficient.
The fluid from the washer fluid reservoir is pumped by the Pontiac washer pump.
The fluid goes through the hose wherein it is connected to the assembly which
directly squirts the fluid on the panel of the windshield. This is primarily used
to provide fluid that is needed by the wiper system to clean the windshield. This
is useful when it is not raining and your windshield starts to accumulate dirt
and dust. It can also used to clean mud, bird poop, and other sticky objects.
You can notice if your washer pump starts to fail when no fluid is coming out
of the fluid distribution system. On the electric windshield wiper motor, there
is a connector that has to be disconnected before you can reach the device for
inspection or repair. A small pin has to be released and then you will be able
to disconnect the motor. You can check if the motor is working or not by using
a 9 volt battery. Place the battery on both ends of its connector, and you can
confirm if the washer pump is in good condition or not.
If you have proved that the washer pump is not working, remove the fluid line
from the reservoir and the motor will be removed easily. And a replacement Pontiac
washer pump might be necessary.
